The Riders

The Riders; Ant and Steve

Brothers-in-law Steve & Ant (in yellow jacket) have been keen cyclists since they were little boys! Last year, they rode together for the first time when they cycled the Sustran coast-to-coast route in 3 days. Hooked on the challenge of self-sufficient touring, in October they decided to cycle 1000 miles in the other direction, Land’s End to John o’ Groats, the so-called End-to-End or le-jog.

Steve is a 31-year-old facilities manager for a medical devices company in the northwest of England. Together with his partner, he is a regular mountain biker, except when recovering from a dislocated hip. His first bike was a black Commando. Famed for his stunt-riding as a young man, he is also noted for the scar under his chin.

Ant, in contrast, is a sedate commuter and recreational cyclist, riding to stay healthy and enjoy the seasons. Always on the lookout for hills, he lives in Cambridge with Steve’s sister, Nic, and their son, Richard, and manages a small biotech laboratory. His first bicycle was a green Raleigh Striker with stabilisers.
